“Algorithm”, or “Algo” :

Algorithm or sequence of steps used in the search engines to determine website ranking. Different search engines use different
algorithms. Ratings are influenced by various factors – on age, country, hosting site, using keywords in the text, etc.

Link Anchor Text, Anchor text :

The visible part of the link, click on the mouse opens a link.

Authority Site :

Quality, important, popular page description. Such a site is characterized by large, well-positioned to attendance.

ALT tags, alternate text picture:
A short text description, which describes the image content. This inscription is visible when you move the mouse on the image, place or show
image if the display is off.

Bad Neighbourhood :
Figuratively – a bad area or a bad neighbor. This can be called a server that houses many poor quality sites. Or pages
who have no value. This may be only a page of links; SPAMS pages, pages that are thrown out
search engines index (Banned) pages that use the tools that are banned in the search engines rules.

Back link, incoming link, inbound link :
Link from another site into your site.

Broken link, dead link :
Link to non-existent page or other Internet resources (pictures, movies, PDF files, etc.).

Click-Through :
Clicking on the link, usually on an advertising message, visiting the advertiser’s site.

Click-Through-Rate (CTR) :
Clicks efficiency. It is a relationship between advertising exposure and clicks. For example, if your ad is displayed is 100, but only three clicks, a CTR = 3

Cloaking :
Some form of content on topic people, a different one – search engine robots. Most search engines is prohibited by the rules.

Content :
Web site or page content, text. This is what makes up a page.

Counter :
Counter. A small application that calculates the page unique visitors and page views.

Crawler, Web Crawler :
Internet robot (called a robot, bot), a synonym. Autonomously functioning application that mimics the site visitor browsing the site. Robots used by search engines to collect pages of contents.

Description :
Description of the abbreviation. A term used to describe the text that the search engine results placed next to a friend.

Description Meta Tag :
HTML meta tag of a brief explanation of the HTML page content.

Directory :
Pages directory, the directory. Categorized list of pages that you maintain and keep editors. Best known for the directory -
Yahoo.

DNS Propagation  :
When you registered the domain name (or moved to another DNS), the amendments come into force on the Internet requires a certain time. Usually the process takes
about 24 hours, during which the domain is unavailable to most users.

Domain Name Server (DNS) :
When a visitor clicks on web address brings the ‘Enter’, the word Internet address of a particular process, called the DNS converts the computer’s IP address.

Doorway page, gateway page :
Web page, which is optimized for the keyword or part of a particular search engine. The main aim – direct (either automatically or via a link), the visitor who came to the main page of your site or even on another site.

Duplicate Content :
Different web pages with the same or nearly the same content.

Google bot :
Robot, which uses the Google name.

Hidden text, hidden links :
The text to see the man and the robot sees. eg. white text on a white background or the text that is written in very small font.

Hits :
One of the attendance of statistical terms, that describes how many resources have been requested from the server, page load time. Eg. one page containing 10 images, will be counted as 11 hits (1 + 10 page picture).

Home Directory :
Main site directory containing the index file. Usually called “/ public_html /”, “/ www /” or “/ web /”.

Image Map :
Storing references on the different images of the same area.

IP address :
Unique address consisting of four numbers separated by dots. Assigned to each computer that is connected to the Internet. Can be static or dynamic. Dynamic IP is granted for each connection is different, but if your computer assigned a static IP address for each connection that it is the same.

Keyword, Key Phrase :
A word or several words. This is the text that is entered for the search engine box to find all pages containing the text is found.

Keywords Meta Tag :
Meta tag of the HTML, which lists a summary of what the words found in page text.

Link Farm :
“Link farm”. Site or a page created just for search engines and is composed almost solely of unrelated links.

Link Popularity :
The site incoming link count and quality.

Meta Search Engine:
Search Engine, which aggregated to form the result of the search engine results.

Mirror Sites:
Identical sites, which are available in different domain name (or IP address). Generally used to allocate a large load.

Outbound Links :
Links to the site leads you to other Web sites.

Page Rank (PR) :
Site on the evaluation unit. There are public or private. Public – the number in the range 0-10, describing the importance of the page. Latent PR is used to indicate the page rankings in search results.

Page views, page loads :
Determines how often a page or site. Suppose your site per day visited the two visitors, one of which reviewed the one page and the other reviewed 15 pages. So, Page Views = 16.

Paid Inclusion :
Paid hosting directory. Some directories include your site in their index, only for a fee. Some of them do not include the site in the index even after the payment if it does not meet the requirements.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) :
Search engine or directory, which puts your site in our index, and charge a fee for each of your visitor clicks on your website links. Results are automatically sorted by descending price.

Reciprocal link :
Exchange links. You are the placement of a link to another site, which is (or will) link to your website.

Redirect :
Routing. Let’s say you bring together the “example.com” and the server will automatically direct you to a different address” www.hostin-in.com” Can be used for other purposes, such as. from the search engines are targeting the next visitors to the place where you need it.

Referrer or Referring URL :
Refer the source. This site, from which the visitor came to your site.

Relevancy :
Match, the match. Typically, this is a quality indicator describing the number of pages corresponding to a specific theme. Eg. Page does not match the car’s Health Forum theme, skin care meets health forum topic.

Robot (spider, Web crawler, crawler, a web-bot, bot) :
The program, which uses a search engine to browse the network to find the sites that rank, indexed pages.

Robots.txt :
The file that contains a description of your site to directories or files not view or search engine indexing robots. File is placed into the main site directory.

Sandbox :
Sandbox for new pages. Google is a phenomenon that is characterized by the fact that the newly created pages for some time unable to gain a high PR in competitive fields.

Search Engine :
Search engine, allowing end users to search for sites in our index or directory.

Search engine friendly :
Search engine optimized web site, trouble-free browsing the web robot, ready for a good ranking, with a clear structure corresponding to the search engine requirements.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) :

SEM (Search Engine Marketing) :

SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) :
This result, which is derived from a search engine search.

Stop word :
A small, very common word (eg “the, a, s, etc.), which ignores the search engines index pages and processing search queries.

Traffic :
This is the amount of visitors who visit the site or a single page.
